Photoshot is opening a New York based production office and is currently looking for New York based contributing photographers, on a commission only basis, with experience of agency press photography. The ideal candidates will have the necessary camera equipment and software, a good journalistic eye and a sound understanding of technical requirements such as ftp and iptc.

We are seeking motivated creative forward thinking Photographers who will cover all sorts of topics, including: celebrity; entertainment; news; business; culture; sport and general stories of national and international interest.

Requirements:

• Amazing photographic skills and an understanding of press photographic standards

• An understanding of event protocol

• Knowledge of celebrities; key figures and current affairs

• Competent grasp of necessary technology such as Photoshop, iptc, ftp

• Good communication skills

• Ability to work under pressure and deadlines;

• Good time-management skills;

Photoshot (www.photoshot.com) consists of a group of distinct collections. Our Collections

UPPA (Universal Pictorial Press and Agency), is probably the oldest independent picture business in the UK, dating back to 1929. It was acquired by Photoshot four years ago and is the photography business of record for royalty, politicians and the judiciary. In more recent times it has also built a strong reputation for business and financial related stories in the UK, EU and US. In fact, the great and the good of society can all be found in UPPA.

Starstock is at the major celebrity and entertainment industry events every day of the year, all over the world. Images come from our own staff photographers and some of the best celebrity photographers in Hollywood, New York, Paris and Cannes. Concentrating on the global “A” list, the biggest bands and the major music festivals, our photographers are also always on the look out for the best new acting and musical talent, including the hottest new stars on US television. In addition, there is a classic archive dating back to the 1950’s which includes rare and early images of the 20th century’s entertainment icons, trend setters and personalities.

Stay Still specialises in celebrity and television publicity photography. The collection holds thousands of pictures of mainly British actors, actresses, comedians and presenters. The pictures can be seen in a wide range of publications. Stay Still also uses its extensive expertise to embrace a full range of publicity and PR services for the film and television industry.

Talking Sport Ali to Agassi, Best to Beckham, Michael Schumacher to Tiger Woods, all the sporting heroes can be found in the Talking Sport collection. Sports stars have always had celebrity status so Talking Sport not only includes the newsmakers of today but also has an extensive archive from yesteryear. Some of the greatest sporting moments as well as high quality and revealing portraits can all be found in this collection.

World Illustrated From the streets of London to the ski slopes in Iran, from the Hutterite community in Canada to the monks of Myanmar, from the rapidly changing face of China to the peaceful tranquillity of rural France, World Illustrated is a collection of images of the world we all live in. The mundane, the exotic, the expected, the thought-provoking, the everyday, the extraordinary; great images of all of these can be found in this gloriously diverse collection of high quality imagery. As well as documenting people and their cultures, the images also depict the work of great artists and other cultural figures past and present. As well as the works of individual photographers from around the world, great collections such as Mary Evans, Topfoto, Eye Ubiquitous/Hutchison, PYMCA, De Agostini and AISA are also represented.

NHPA is widely regarded as one of the greatest collections of nature and wildlife imagery in the world built up over more than 40 years. The library represents a group of more than 150 photographers who are leading specialists in their field including four “Wildlife Photographer of the Year” winners. The NHPA collection encompasses not just wildlife but also plants, pets, marine life, landscapes, indigenous peoples and environmental issues.

World Pictures is an extensive collection of travel and travel-related imagery which shows a world filled with colour and beauty – global destinations, spectacular landscapes, and stunning beaches. The images are taken by a team of travel specialists who are familiar with the technical and aesthetic image requirements of not only travel companies and tour operators but also newspaper and magazine publishers, advertising agencies and design consultancies. With nearly one million images available and new destinations being added on a regular basis, World Pictures offers an unprecedented depth and breadth of travel imagery.

Woodfall Wild Images is a highly respected specialist collection of images relating to the environment, conservation and nature. Featuring many award-winning photographers, new images are continually being added to keep up to date with the issues that are becoming increasingly important to all of us.

Photoshot Archive Unlike many archives which are static and set in time, the Photoshot Archive is continually expanding with the addition of “new” content, some of which has never been seen before. Not everything is digitised, but with access to some of the most exciting hidden archives from around the world, there are few subjects that can not be sourced.

Photoshot Creative consists of both RM and RF collections from image creators based in the UK, US and Germany. Aimed at both editorial and creative markets, there is a strong emphasis on cultural diversity and identity. With 90,000 images in the collection, there is plenty of choice to fulfil all of the most commonly requested concepts.
